COERR Organized Developing Peer to Peer Support for Vulnerable Elderly

   Aiming to promote the vulnerable elderly’s physical, mental and psychosocial healthcare, COER Mae Sot and camp-based refugee staff, worked closely with the elderly, carried out various activities that should enable them to live their healthy, strong, and happy daily life, so that they were less dependent on others.

   Throughout June 2021, several healthcare activities were held: Basic exercise for knee pain relief, hygiene care, health check-up such as blood pressure measurement, basic mental health care like meditation and breathing exercise; therapy activities relating to art and performance, such as traditional dance, drawing, painting and planting, livelihood skills activities, etc. Soya milk, as nutritional supplement drinks, was regularly offered during the activities.

   There were 6 elderly healthcare promoting and training activities being held. The first four occasions were taken place in Ban Mae La Temporary Shelter, Tak Province:

   No.1) On June 10th, there were 55 participants of 50 females and 5 males.

   No.2) On June 15th, there were 32 participants of 29 females and 3 males.

   No.3) On June 16th, there were 34 participants of 31 females and 3 males.

   No.4) On June 17th, there were 41 participants of 35 females and 6 males.

   No.5) In Ban Umpiem Temporary Shelter, Phop Phra District, Tak Province, on June 17th, there were 31 participants of 26 females and 5 males.

   No.6) In Ban Nupo Temporary Shelter, Umphang District, Tak Province, on June 23rd, there were 36 participants of 29 females and 7 males.
